Bamboo Prototypes
Lead Designer & Maker

A series of prototypes using bamboo as structure were created to enhance Colindale Community Garden as a functional garden and a social space for play and relaxation - a food growing haven with many experiences.

Bamboo poles of various lengths and diameters were donated from a private bamboo garden in Hendon. With inspiration from Hong Kong bamboo scaffoldings and bamboo vernacular architecture in other countries, traditional lashing techniques were explored and applied. Other materials used include retired climbing rope, paracord, a donated hammock and pallet wood.

The Bamboo Prototypes display an alternative approach to circularity - assembling reversible structures with non-standardised elements and no permanent fixings.
